Have you ever taken the time to consider there is power in your pause? Let's think about it. When we find ourselves in a heated debate (we are Christians after all so we don't argue...LOL), have you noticed the difference when you unleash as a rapid response to the other person versus taking a breath before responding?
There is a saying out there that we should listen to understand and not just to respond. That concept centers around the power in your pause. When we react as an instantaneous response, we are giving power to that person or that situation. Oftentimes in that reaction, we lose control and all semblance of the person we have worked so hard to become. It's like in the heat of the moment, we just lose all control. Our loss of control gives power to that entity we are struggling with or in many cases against.
Now think about a time where you were in a situation but before you responded or reacted, you did the "5,4,3,2,1, Woosah" count down or better yet you whispered or yelled "Lord help me!". This may sound funny but it is a helpful tool to help you maintain control. Taking that pause allows you to digest what has happened or what has been said and gives you the wisdom to think before you speak, think before you throw them hands or think before you react. It allows you control over your next move. The enemy likes to put us in situations where we give up our power by giving up control of how we respond to things. Get your control back. Take back your power...activate your pause! PAUSE POWER ACTIVATE!!!
